On the 3th August,2017, Dr. Yeyi Zhu from Kaiser Permanente Northern California, visited the college for academic exchange. Vice President Zhibin Hu, Dean Yankai Xia and all the teachers and postgraduates of the Birth Cohort Research Center participated in the exchange meeting. Dr. Zhu's research focus on the relationship between maternal nutrition, environmental exposure and maternal, offspring health. On this visit, Dr. Zhu made an academic report entitled "In Utero Environment and Cardio-metabolic Risk Development: Challenges and opportunities in prediction and prevention in the era of Big Data Medicine". Dr. Zhu introduced the progress in the study of drink intake during pregnancy, air pollution and metabolic biomarkers and the risk of diabetes and obesity in pregnancy and offspring. The opportunities and challenges of birth cohort research are discussed. This academic exchange will further optimize and promote the construction of birth cohort.
