Aiming to promote cooperation and communication in birth cohort research and accelerate scientific research in maternal and child health and reproductive medicine, the State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine of Nanjing Medical University held a preparatory seminar for the China Birth Cohort Alliance on the afternoon of March 8.
The conference invited outstanding teams from 17 birth cohorts nationwide, including the China National Birth Cohort, Peking University Tongzhou Birth Cohort, Shanghai Birth Cohort, Wuhan Birth Cohort, Tongji Shuangliu Birth Cohort, Tongji Maternal and Infant Health Cohort, Guangzhou Birth Cohort, Guangxi Zhuang Nationality Birth Cohort, Anhui Birth Cohort. Professor Zhibin Hu, President of the State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine and Director of the Birth Cohort Research Center, presided the meeting.
Professor Zhibin Hu pointed out that the population issue has become one of the most prominent issues in China's society at present, and the establishment of the birth cohort alliance will provide an important carrier for research on reproductive health and maternal and child health. How to establish a good Chinese birth cohort alliance and promote communication and cooperation among the alliance, requires everyone to work together. Professor Zhibin Hu proposed a proposal for the establishment of the China Birth Cohort Alliance from four aspects: the background, goals, organizational methods, and cooperation vision of the alliance.
Professor Shunqing Xu of Hainan University, Professor Jun Zhang of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Xiaoyun Zeng of Guangxi Medical University, Professor Xiu Qiu of Guangzhou Women's and Children's Hospital, Professor Kun Huang of Anhui Medical University, and Professor Yuan Lin of Nanjing Medical University introduced the basic situation, construction process, representative achievements, and research prospects of their cohort respectively. After the conference report, more than 30 experts participated in further discussions on the top-level design, organizational form, platform maintenance and development, and challenges faced by the birth cohort alliance. This meeting announced the official establishment of the China Birth Cohort Alliance, focusing on the development and challenges of China's birth cohort construction, sharing scientific frontiers, building alliances, and achieving the goal of win-win cooperation.
